JON MCDONELL, R. Ac
Jon graduated from the Grant MacEwan Acupuncture program in 2016. He believes in helping people take charge of their own health by encouraging people to listen to their bodies. The modalities Chinese Medicine offers are very powerful – but true healing happens when patients begin to incorporate healthy lifestyle changes, and healthy ways of thinking outside of the treatment room.
He strives to create a comfortable and relaxed environment in the treatment room — especially for those people who are feeling nervous about needles. You can expect constant communication throughout the entire process. Your comfort comes first.
Jon's areas of interest include cisgender and transgender men's and women's health, mental health and stress management, ADHD support, sleep, chronic fatigue, urogenital disorders, and digestive health/gastrointestinal disorders; He is constantly improving his skills in these areas through self-study and continuing education.
Jon has access to a full a compounding herbal pharmacy with over 100 individual Chinese Herbal granules which can be tailored to your specific needs, as well as a number of pre-made patent formulas for purchase as well.
Jon strives to create a safe space for the LGBT+ community here at the clinic in West Edmonton. He is passionate about carving out a place where communities that are too often neglected by the healthcare system can seek treatment without fear of judgment or bias. Jon has a particular interest in applying Chinese medical theory to Queer and Transgender health.
In addition to his Acupuncture practice, Jon also teaches Foundations of Chinese Medicine in the Acupuncture program at MacEwan University. He is passionate about sharing his love of this medicine with anyone willing to listen (check out his podcast for a sneak peek! Find the link in the upper menu bar.)
