Some common ailments we treat through massage therapy include motor vehicle accident recovery, TMJ dysfunction, repetitive strain, trauma, pre/post natal, scoliosis, headaches, tendonitis, carpal tunnel syndrome, whiplash, sciatica and more.
CUPPING MASSAGE THERAPY
Cupping is a form of massage therapy in which glass, silicone or plastic cups are suctioned onto the skin’s surface through negative pressure. The suction draws out toxins, stimulates the peripheral nervous system, brings blood flow to stagnant muscles and skin, loosens adhesions in the connective tissue, and stubborn knots in the muscle.
CRANIOSACRAL THERAPY
Craniosacral therapy is a light touch, manual therapy that releases tensions and restrictions to relieve pain, dysfunction and improve overall health. Using light touch the practitioner evaluates the Craniosacral system by gently feeling various locations of the body to test ease of motion and rhythm of the cerebrospinal fluid pulsing around the brain and spinal cord. By normalizing the environment around the brain and spinal cord and enhancing the body's ability to self-correct Craniosacral Therapy is able to alleviate a wide variety of dysfunctions. This can soothe pain and release both emotional and physical stress and tension. Developed in the 1970's by John Upledger, Craniosacral therapy has evolved into a common and effective treatment for immune disorders, dementia, learning disorders, brain and spinal cord injuries, concussions and post-traumatic stress disorder. Craniosacral is safe and effective for children and adults.
CRANIOSACRAL THERAPY FOR PEDIATRICS
Craniosacral therapy can be done at any age from new born to well into your life; anyone 12 and under falls into the category of pediatric. This is a gentle, hands-on method of evaluating and enhancing the functioning of the physiological body systems. It can be profound on people of any age to alleviate restrictions within the body. The benefit of working on children is their bodies are more willing to release restrictions as they haven't been set in long-term patterns, helping prevent problems later in life. Some of the conditions that have shown to be beneficial are:
-
Colic/reflex and digestive issues
-
Motor-coordination impairments
-
Speech disorders
-
Tongue and lip ties
-
Torticollis & plagiocephaly
"For the last few months I have been experiencing unexplainable dysphasia and neck pain. I had several tests and treatments that all came back clear and so I finally tried a different route. Amanda’s massage therapy and craniosacral therapy have been some of the most helpful treatments for me and have provided me with significant relief.
Amanda acknowledges and addresses areas that I mention as well as looks beyond the obvious areas to see if there might be something more underlying. There have been multiple times where I bring up a problem area and when she works on it there is noticeable relief. One of the more prominent symptoms for me was a clicking in the front of my throat when I tried to swallow. She worked for quite a while on my hyoid bone which lead to noticeable improvements after she released it.
Amanda is extremely intuitive and validates my experience of pain and discomfort. She notices what areas I am experiencing pain and comes back to areas that she can tell haven’t improved the first time through. When I bring up the unknowns in my issue I feel as though they are approached with curiosity and a desire to work through it with me, and I walk out feeling like I have been heard and helped." HOT STONE TREATMENT
A hot stone treatment is a type of massage therapy. It’s used to help you relax and ease tense muscles and damaged soft tissues throughout your body.
During a hot stone massage, smooth, flat, heated stones are placed on specific parts of your body. The stones are usually made of basalt, a type of volcanic rock that retains heat.
